Beneath our most powerful Nos, often, is an even more powerful YES, waiting to be fully expressed. Rev. Barbara explored the power and potential of our personal and political NOs, in order to uncover our wholehearted YESSES, especially those that fire up, fuel and sustain social transformation. She addresses reproductive justice in particular. Sam Henline and Melanie Haskins played Klezmer music for us, and it was a treat. We clapped with joy, and some even danced in the back of the church! Rev. Kelly reminded us of the Greeley Holocaust Memorial Observances which start next month and highlighted the Chalice Arts exhibit we have of Holocaust Posters. How do we, as Unitarian Universalists, reconcile injustice? Listen to learn more. Slides are included here, too
Jon joined us with story and song.
Our children lead many parts of this service, and we learned that there are three key steps to creating justice together: Plan. Act. Reflect.
In the service, we developed a plan to act for justice across generations and with our community partner, The Children's Garden. That plan includes "why" we would create justice together, and here's what we came up with: Help other people Connect with the community Fill our spirits Learn where food comes from Connect with nature Avoid GMOs Taste and experience different kinds of foods Get dirty Work together Reduce selfishness Learn how to preserve and maybe can foods Learn about animals The plan also includes "how" we will create justice together. We created this covenant. We promise to: Respect everyone Be compassionate Work hard and set an example Stay focused Stay positive Be OK when things don't go well Work with joy and always have fun Celebrate Reflect and learn Now we're ready to act! Check weekly announcements and Facebook for updates about when the planting day at The Children's Garden will be. There is a planning meeting Friday March 6th at 10:00 at Al Frente De Lucha 919 A Street, Greeley CO |
