Flower Communion is one of our unique Unitarian Universalist traditions, with a rich history. We celebrated the history and exchanged the gift of flowers!
In many contexts, blessings are understood to come from God. From my experience, however, my greatest blessings have come from my family and friends: my beloved community. By building up the beloved community, we learn to accept our blessings with gratitude, and to generously "pay it forward" by learning how to be a blessing in the lives of others.
The audio of this sermon begins with a short anthem by our amazing choir. We often think of blessings as something we give or receive. What if we thought of it instead as a way of being in the world?
