Weld County Relay for Life 2016 is Saturday June 4th 2016.  It is a wonderful community event to raise funds for the American Cancer Association. It is also a wonderful way to deepen our presence in our community.  If anyone is interested in participating and being a part of a team please contact Danelle Beauvais by email daughterofavalon@msn.com.  Organizational meetings are starting soon! To learn more about Relay please visit http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pg=entry&fr_id=75255

Care givers (Home Instead) is providing 24/7 care and they will likely be the ones who will answer the phone. Short visits are best as Judy tires easily.

Professional Painting Complete! Check out the exterior of church (all trim and doors).

Who Wants a Vacation?
I do, and I’d love for you to join me for the Western Unitarian Universalist Life Festival aka WUULF, at the Ghost Ranch in beautiful northern New Mexico, June 20-26.  The theme for this year is “Fun, Facts and Faith.” We will have three theme speakers:  Camilla Dodson, the daughter of a Lesotho chief will bring the Fun; Sherry Burr, an expert on international law will bring the facts; and Nathan Mesnikoff, UU minister and director of spiritual care and volunteer services at Memorial Hospital, will bring the faith
In addition to the theme speakers, our own WUULFies offer plenty of fun, crafty, educational, and thoughtful workshops.  We gather every morning for spiritual centering with our camp minister, Beth Chronister, and again in the afternoon for social hour where we share fellowship over food and spirits of the liquid kind.  Throughout the day, you can choose to attend workshops, hike the epic landscape of Ghost Ranch, or just kick back under the Wisdom Tree.  We will play games, tell stories, tie dye, drum, dance and sing throughout the week.
If you have school age kids, WUULF is a fantastic opportunity to spend time as a family, and also enjoy some grown-up time while the young ones are in their own programs.
Registration is now open for WUULF 2016 and will remain open until May 1 or until camp fills.  Scholarships are available.  Check out our website WUULF.org for more information and registration forms.  Please feel free to contact me if you have questions at jeverham@frii.com 970-224-5443

If you have weekly announcements you'd like to submit,  be sure to email them to the Office Manager (office_manager@greeleyuuc.org) by 10am on the Tuesday of the week you'd like them to be in the announcements!

Other News and Reminders

Cottage Meetings in our Listening Campaign: Formal cottage meetings have been completed.  We've had nearly 40 members/friends of our congregation take part.  Was your voice one that we heard?  If not, THERE IS STILL TIME!  Our hope is to hear from EVERY member/friend.  Our "collective will" for the future of this church is strongest and most representative when we hear from everyone.  Please contact Marcia Free to schedule a one-on-one meeting (marcia.mae.free@gmail.com or 615-497-0522).

Pledge Drive to End Soon: Would you like to see your heart's desire for this congregation come to fulfillment?  We have ONE MORE WEEK for members/friends to pledge your financial support for our upcoming fiscal year.  Huge thanks to those of you who have already pledged, and helped us reach two-thirds of the way to our goal of receiving $59,500 in pledges!  This goal would make it possible to avoid dipping into savings next year.

Serving With Grace: Donations of time and talent are also greatly appreciated for our upcoming fiscal year.  We have varied areas where we are seeking volunteers to do church work which helps us fulfill the mission of the church (the real work of the church is to fulfill our mission----to grow spiritually, live meaningfully, and help heal our world).  Please mindfully consider the areas listed just inside the entrance to our sanctuary on the red felt board, and sign up wherever your heart calls you to! Even if you are continuing the same task, please sign up! Click HERE to see the sign up sheet to see where your heart lies and sign up on the bulletin board in the back of the Sanctuary. Thank you in advance.

Judith Meyers is home, happy and resting comfortably. She would enjoy visitors, but a call before coming would be appreciated. The family and hospice asked visitors to be very conscious of not visiting if they have any sort of respiratory illness. Catching a cold/cough could really be detrimental. Of course calls and cards are always welcome.

In recognition of Women's month (March) Chalice Arts has installed an exhibit by our Minister Emeritus, Rev. Sylvia Falconer of collages and a few paintings entitled   "All Women plus a few Men".  All of these pieces except one are for sale.  If you are interested in buying please contact Judy Meyers or Meghan, making your check out to the church.  We will keep 10%.  All work must remain up until the end of the exhibit which will be April 25.  Hope you enjoy the show!

Yet can we have all that we desire? We will ask this question and more as we prepare to celebrate Earth Day.
Share the Plate: The third Sunday of the month,
April 17th, we will share the plate with a local organization! In honor of Earth Day, we will share the plate with the Poudre Learning Center. The mission of the Poudre Learning Center is to awaken a sense of wonder and inspire environmental stewardship and citizenship through education of students, families and local residents along the Colorado Northern Front Range.

Diana's Travel Schedule
Many of you know already that our Ministerial Resident, Diana McLean, will be traveling to the Unitarian Universalist Association Headquarters in Boston later this week for her appointment with the Ministerial Fellowship Committee. She will be in Boston from Thursday, April 7 through Sunday, April 10th.

All three members of our Greeley-Foothills ministerial team (Diana, Rev. Gretchen Haley, and Rev. Howell Lind) will be attending the Mountain Desert District's ministerial retreat in Santa Fe next week. Diana will be there from Tuesday, April 12 to Friday, April 15th. She will resume her normal office hours on Tuesday, April 19th.

During both of these trips, Diana will have limited access to email. She will be reachable by cell phone during most of the time she is away, in case of emergency, and will respond to non-emergency messages upon her return.

Judith Meyers remains in the hospital. She greatly appreciates all the cards and visits from her church friends. She wants everyone to know that she will be going home by the end of this week! Judy will be under the care of Hospice and a 24 hour caregiver. She is looking forward to more visits at home!

Dianne Culver contacted Shaileen Snider recently to check up on how she and family were doing since their move to Pueblo. Dianne received an update and, after Shaileen approved, wanted to share it with the congregation:
Hello Dianne and Andy!
It's really great to hear from you! We are all doing well. I am starting to feel at home at my new job on the oncology floor at Parkview Medical Center. I am slowly but surely exploring our new community and finding a lot of fun things! I am playing my horn with the Canon City Community Band and will sub with the Pueblo Symphony for their April concert. Leila is doing very well at her new school. She made Principal's Honor Roll for the first semester and is well on her way for the 2nd too. She is singing with the Pueblo Children's Chorale and is looking forward to touring Disneyland with them this summer. She is really enjoying the 4-day school week here as well! She also started playing the flute and is enjoying it a lot.  Nels is enjoying his job at the CMHIP (Colorado Mental Health Institute of Pueblo, or, State Hospital). He has some interesting stories to tell. We love our new home and the views and quietness Pueblo West has to offer. Leila and I tried out the UU society of Pueblo but have found a better fit at All Souls UU church of Colorado Springs. We miss all of our friends in Greeley, especially our church family. Please send our best to everybody and let them know to look us up if they find themselves in southern Colorado. (I still have my same phone number and plan to keep it.)
I hope you are well!
Shaileen

Other News and Reminders

Everyone please sign up NOW for our Cottage Meetings: Our church is extremely blessed to be able to work with the Rev Jeanelyse Doran Adams, a UUA Congregational Life Consultant who specializes in helping churches become vibrant, mission-driven communities.  She has trained a team of facilitators at UUCG who are now in the process of holding cottage meetings for ALL members/friends to share their longings/desires/hopes/dreams for this congregation.  Our collective voice is strongest and most representative when EACH and EVERY ONE of us is able to share!  Come tell us your heart's desires for this congregation.  The information from this Listening Campaign will be used to discern a path forward.  Please participate in our Discernment/Discovery Process!  What you think matters!
The questions you will be answering during the Cottage Meetings include:
1. Connect to a time you were passionate, connected, inspired or alive in the congregation. One where you felt really moved, or that was particularly memorable. What was happening, who was there, how did you feel, what was memorable? What do you value most about that experience?
2. What are your personal longings or desires for the UU Church of Greeley? How could you imagine being fulfilled by helping to make that happen?
3. Imagine a time 3-5 years from now when our congregation is coming together to celebrate. We are celebrating the fulfillment of dreams that originally began during this current time, maybe even in these meetings. What might we be celebrating? Who would benefit from the fulfillment of these dreams?

Sign up sheet is in front of the name tags in our church foyer. Or speak to Marcia Free (marcia.mae.free@gmail.com) if you need a different time or a one-on-one meeting to be heard.

Available times are:
1.
Tuesday, April 5 (today) from 7:00 to 8:30pm

2. Sunday, April 10 from 11:30 to 1:00pm

Pledge Canvass:  Did you know that pledging to our church (promising an amount of financial support for our upcoming fiscal year beginning June 1, 2016) helps us determine what types of services we can offer? Our planning for the upcoming year is determined by total pledges received. Please help us plan to fulfill our collective heart's desires!
Our goal is $59,500 in pledges. We are pleased to announce that we are HALFWAY there!! Huge gratitude to those of you who have already announced your intention to support this church financially!
Please return your completed pledge card to the big red box for completed cards located to the right of our name tags in the church foyer, mail it back to the church, or email Marcia Free (board president) with your pledge (marcia.mae.free@gmail.com).
Help us make the flame our heart-shaped chalice graphic reach the top of our goal of $59,500 in pledges for our upcoming fiscal year! Thank you!!

We, her church family, hold her in our hearts and send positive thoughts her way.

A Note from Membership Ministry and Treasurer
Dear friends,
This is just a note to clarify that according to our bylaws, to be a member of UUCG one must sign the membership book and pledge monetarily each year.  Non-members are no less welcome here, but there are a few privileges reserved for membership under our bylaws. Membership allows one to vote at the annual Congregational Meeting each spring, and at other times that a vote of the membership is required; to recieve the UU World Magazine; to be chairperson of a ministry group; and/or to serve on the Board.  If you have signed the membership book in a previous year but are not currently pledging, you are a treasured friend, but not a member. If you'd like to be a current member but the financial component is a hardship, please contact Ministerial Resident Diana McLean to discuss options. The Membership Ministry thanks you all for your time, talent and treasure. All of you, members and friends, are vitally important to our church!
