Sunday, December 11th- Resting in the Dark, Awakened in the Light- Marcia Free The Taize Community, an ecumenical monastic order in France, was founded in 1940 to promote peace and justice through prayer and meditation. Traditional Taize worship services use silence, scripture, prayer and repetitive singing of short chants or rounds to quiet the mind and promote deep meditation. Resting in the Dark, Awakened in the Light is a service that mirrors Taize-style attention to silence, holy words from various sources of faith, ritual, prayer and singing. Join us as we sink into the sacred quiet of the season with an introspective, meditative service of candles and community. RE: Chapel on Winter Holidays Other News and Reminders UU Evening Brewery Fun is Back! Join us to meet and mingle with friends while checking out the local breweries in town. Beer, craft root beer, and other non-alcoholic drinks are available for purchase. These will be family friendly events with board games/bean bag toss, snacks and root-beer floats for the kids!
Social Change Ministry Circle Please join us for a very important meeting of the Social Change Ministry Circle on December 13th at 11:30am. Reverend Bloom will be joining us to facilitate discussion of our vision, hopes and plans for the group in 2017. Come and share your thoughts and ideas. All are welcome. Our faith calls for us to be agents for social change so come reflect and connect to that which is larger than ourselves and calls us to partner to create the Beloved Community. Lutheran Family Services is having a Coat Drive from October 24th-December 16th! Please donate your unwanted winter coats and help refugee families to stay warm! Please drop off your donations at the LFS Refugee and Asylee Office! Click HERE for the official flyer! The Church is adopting a Christmas Family! Lucero Macias and her daughters, and a grandson. She is our Custodian. Her seven year old daughter, Victoria, has been ill with leukemia and the family could use some extra help during the holidays. Sign up in the back of the Sanctuary, to bring a gift, clothes or a toy. We will also be collecting money or grocery certificates for the family. It's simple, bring your wrapped gift to the Church by December 18th. Dianne Culver will be available to help answer questions or concerns. Grocery Certificate Volunteers Needed! Due to a change in family life Rosemary Edmiston must relinquish her duties as a grocery certificate volunteer and Hollis Berendt wishes to spend more time with her family- thus it is time for a personnel change. We are hopeful that several will volunteer creating a team of volunteers with a coordinator so that the duties will not fall on one or two people all of the time. The coordinator or at least one volunteer should have access to a computer. The grocery certificate service provides added revenue for the church, and works closely with the UUCG Treasurer and Board. Volunteers need to contact Rosemary, Hollis, Erika Coan or Reverend Barry Bloom. How can I contact Rev. Barry Bloom? If you need to get into contact with Rev. Barry Bloom please email him at revbarrybloom@gmail.com or call him at 303-273-9908. How can I contact our Board Members? Board Vice President Marika Barth: marikabarth@hotmail.com Board Secretary Josette Schaffer: josetteschaffer@msn.com Board Treasurer Erika Coan: eacoan@gmail.com If you have an announcement you would like to see in our weekly announcements please email Meghan at office_manager@greeleyuuc.org by 10 am on the Tuesday you wish to see the announcement in!
