Sunday, January 22nd- Good and Evil- Nathan Woodliff-Stanley What is the nature of good and evil, and how do we advance good and fight forces of evil without losing our moral grounding or demonizing other human beings? RE: Chapel on Principle #1- "Every person is important and valuable" Other News and Reminders Spiritual Stimulation and Support Group HAS begun- please join us! We had a wonderful beginning to our new church group on January 10th. The fellowship and discussion was both stimulating and supportive of one another. Our next group will be on Tuesday, January 24th from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Childcare is available. This is OUR group to provide the type of spiritual stimulation, as well as general life support, that any attendees desire. It will evolve as participants express their needs/wants. The first group of attendees were wanting a spiritual "show and tell" for our next meeting on January 24th. So if you would like to join us on January 24th, please bring something of spiritual significance to share with the group. It could be any type of thing that inspires you on your spiritual or life journey (i.e. a poem or reading, scripture, talisman, something from nature, a statue or other piece of art, a picture or description of someone who inspires you, something related to a U.U. principle, something you created or wrote, etc). Each group is a stand alone time for sharing and caring. So feel free to join in on any 2nd or 4th Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00pm. Our own Jill Koenig is providing childcare, so children will be with a familiar person. Questions? Open to everyone, this program, held from 12 noon to 3:00 pm on Sunday February 5th in the RE room, will identify what works to promote connection and meaning within a spiritual community. It is a beginning to assist in leading us to greater unity and connection in our unfolding future as a church community. As well as an aid to each of us working to create connection within our circle of family and loved ones. There will be a pot luck lunch from 11:30 until 12. The program will be led by Rev Barry Bloom. Social Event: UU Sunday Afternoon Brewery Fun Join us to meet and mingle with friends while checking out the local breweries in town. Beer, craft root beer and other non-alcoholic drinks are available for purchase. These will be family friendly events with board games/bean bag toss, snacks and root-beer floats for the kids.
Grocery Certificate Volunteers Needed! Due to a change in family life Rosemary Edmiston must relinquish her duties as a grocery certificate volunteer and Hollis Berendt wishes to spend more time with her family- thus it is time for a personnel change. We are hopeful that several will volunteer creating a team of volunteers with a coordinator so that the duties will not fall on one or two people all of the time. The coordinator or at least one volunteer should have access to a computer. The grocery certificate service provides added revenue for the church, and works closely with the UUCG Treasurer and Board.
