Whatever your theology, this is a season of rebirth and renewal. What might be born again in us this spring? RE:Special Easter Class Sunday, March 27th- Annual Easter Egg Hunt after the service! We are going on an Easter Egg Hunt for cans and non-perishable food for the Food Bank, so we need all of you to bring these items and place them in the box in the Foyer. Tuna is especially good, because children can handle those cans. Children will exchange the cans for a goodie bag. Other News and Reminders Pledge Canvass: A "canvass" or "pledge drive" is the concentrated moment in the congregational year when members and friends are asked to make promises of financial support to the congregation for its upcoming fiscal year. Our fiscal year runs June 1st to May 31st. Your board will take the pledges received and craft a budget to present back to you for approval at our congregational meeting in May. We are currently asking members and friends to fill out a pledge card, seal it in the envelope it came in, and place in the big red box. A basket of pledge cards and the big red box for completed cards are both located to the right of our name tags in the church foyer. Help us make the flame our heart-shaped chalice graphic go upwards towards our goal of $59,500 in pledges for our upcoming fiscal year! Thank you!! Serving With Grace: Donations of time and talent are also greatly appreciated for our upcoming fiscal year. We have varied areas where we are seeking volunteers to do church work which helps us fulfill the mission of the church (the real work of the church is to fulfill our mission----to grow spiritually, live meaningfully, and help heal our world). Please mindfully consider the areas listed just inside the entrance to our sanctuary on the red felt board, and sign up wherever your heart calls you to! Click HERE to see the sign up sheet to see where your heart lies and sign up on the bulletin board in the back of the Sanctuary. Thank you in advance. Cottage Meetings in our Listening Campaign : Now down to the WHY of giving either money, time or talent to our congregation. We offer Greeley a Unitarian Universalist community (that's our WHAT) by providing a liberal oasis in a conservative area (that's our HOW). But WHY do we as a gathered people offer that? That's the real question we are seeking to answer in our cottage meetings. What makes us come alive? What is our real purpose for joining together? What deep human needs/longings are we fulfilling by doing the work of our church together? Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. didn't say "I have a plan to overcome racism." He said, "I have a dream!" What is our dream that we welcome others to join us in? Come tell us your heart's desires for this congregation. Together we'll discern our path forward! Sign up sheet is in front of the name tags in our church foyer. Or speak to Marcia Free (marcia.mae.free@gmail.com) if you need a different time or a one-on-one meeting to be heard. Available times are: 1. Monday, March 28 from 7:00 to 8:30pm 2. Saturday, April 2 from 10:00 to 11:30am 3. Saturday, April 2 from 2:00 to 3:30pm 4. Tuesday, April 5 from 10:00 to 11:30am 5. Tuesday, April 5 from 7:00 to 8:30pm A Note from Membership Ministry and Treasurer Dear friends, This is just a note to clarify that according to our bylaws, to be a member of UUCG one must sign the membership book and pledge monetarily each year. Non-members are no less welcome here, but there are a few privileges reserved for membership under our bylaws. Membership allows one to vote at the annual Congregational Meeting each spring, and at other times that a vote of the membership is required; to recieve the UU World Magazine; to be chairperson of a ministry group; and/or to serve on the Board. If you have signed the membership book in a previous year but are not currently pledging, you are a treasured friend, but not a member. If you'd like to be a current member but the financial component is a hardship, please contact Ministerial Resident Diana McLean to discuss options. The Membership Ministry thanks you all for your time, talent and treasure. All of you, members and friends, are vitally important to our church! I do, and I’d love for you to join me for the Western Unitarian Universalist Life Festival aka WUULF, at the Ghost Ranch in beautiful northern New Mexico, June 20-26. The theme for this year is “Fun, Facts and Faith.” We will have three theme speakers: Camilla Dodson, the daughter of a Lesotho chief will bring the Fun; Sherry Burr, an expert on international law will bring the facts; and Nathan Mesnikoff, UU minister and director of spiritual care and volunteer services at Memorial Hospital, will bring the faith In addition to the theme speakers, our own WUULFies offer plenty of fun, crafty, educational, and thoughtful workshops. We gather every morning for spiritual centering with our camp minister, Beth Chronister, and again in the afternoon for social hour where we share fellowship over food and spirits of the liquid kind. Throughout the day, you can choose to attend workshops, hike the epic landscape of Ghost Ranch, or just kick back under the Wisdom Tree. We will play games, tell stories, tie dye, drum, dance and sing throughout the week. If you have school age kids, WUULF is a fantastic opportunity to spend time as a family, and also enjoy some grown-up time while the young ones are in their own programs. Registration is now open for WUULF 2016 and will remain open until May 1 or until camp fills. Scholarships are available. Check out our website WUULF.org for more information and registration forms.
