Other News and Reminders

Note from Treasurer Bill Gotchey:
I want to thank all the members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greeley for making our pledge campaign such a howling success!   Our pledges increased 23.86% and that number will be going up as we still have ten or so pledges to come in. We will be able to give our minister a 7.14% raise, and we have some other exciting news. On March 29th we will hold an informational meeting after the service about a new concept introduced by the UUA called "multi-site".  Some of our Board and some of the Foothills Unitarian Board members have met to see if we could work together to spread Unitarian Universalism.  One of the many exciting things we are working on is sharing a minister. It may not happen right away, but we are in discussions. This would give our minister a full-time position and would allow for many other possibilities, so come to the meeting after Church on the 29th to learn more.

Because of vacations by various Board members, we will postpone the Congregational Meeting originally scheduled  for March 29th.  Instead, it will be on May 17.  We will have the budget forum after Church on April 26th.  We will review the 6-1-15 to 5-31-16 budget, and if you are into details, copies will be available.  At the Congregational Meeting, all members will vote on various Church matters including a new slate of Board and Committee on Shared Ministry candidates and the budget. A detailed agenda will be posted two weeks prior to the meeting.  If anyone wants to run for a Board position, please contact Tim Berendt.

Thank you for your loving support, Bill Gotchey Treasurer.

Climate Justice Month is from World Water Day (March 22) to Earth Day (April 22). Unitarian Universalists will spend the month embarking on a spiritual journey thanks to Commit2Respond.  Rev. Kelly will share their daily messages on our Facebook page.  You can also sign up to receive the daily messages by email here: http://www.commit2respond.org/act
We will reflect on the experience during the Theme Thoughts discussion on April 19th.

Brooke Minkel will be offering the entire 7 week "Becoming a Love and Logic Parent" seminar for FREE! Fridays, March 13th-April 24th, 6-8pm. Normally $110 per person, the Creative Center for Spiritual Living is sponsoring this series for the community. If you or someone you know could use some more parenting "tools", contact CCSL at 970-351-8122(you will need to leave a message) or e-mail lori@creativecsl.org.

To Regular Users of the LOCKBOX: The combination has been changed on the lockbox.  Please contact Tim Berendt for the new combination.

Building and Grounds: The Building and Grounds ministry is looking for someone who would like to help periodically with watering the indoor plants. This would take about half an hour a week for 5 or 6 weeks of the year.  Training is available. Thanks! Please contact Shelley at      e-mail ssgotchey@comcast.net.

Card Sharks: With eight card players and two looky-loos, the first Card Shark evening was a great success.  The UUCG Card Sharks will meet at the church on the third Thursday of each month from 7 to 8:30 pm.

Bill Gotchey has been a member of a men philosophical group for a few years. He really enjoys it and he would like to start one beginning in May with the UU guys. The plan would be to meet the first, third and fifth Saturday of each month. The meetings could be at the church or like his other group at a coffee shop. If interested, contact Bill Gotchey at gotchey@comcast.net

Camp Noah
is a locally hosted event for elementary-age children whose communities have been impacted by disaster, in this case the flooding in Evans. Camp Noah provides a safe, caring and fun environment where children build resiliency skills within the familiarity of their own communities, using a proven curriculum designed to help children process their disaster and/or trauma experience through creative activities and play. Camp Noah celebrates every child as special. In this safe and supportive setting, children are encouraged to face their fears, grieve their losses, identify their gifts and talents and plan for an amazing future. Organizers are looking for help.  If you are interested in helping at some time between March 30 and April 3 please  go to www.volunteersignup.org/4Q8PD to see the many opportunities available.

Saturday, May 16: SAVE THE DATE
Please save the date for a fun evening on Saturday May 16 for an Auction and Party. This will be an opportunity for fun, as well as help support the church. Please consider what you could donate for this auction, and what businesses in town, that you frequent, might like to donate a gift card for our cause. When businesses donate, it gives them free advertising, possible new customers and good will to current customers.  Who could you ask to donate?  It could be a product, a massage, manicure, garden tools, classes, coffee, books, shoes etc. The options are as many as businesses.  More information will be offered in the coming weeks. If you have questions, or would like to help, please contact Hollis or Tim. Thank you.

Spiritual Photography Project- We are putting together an art show consisting of your personal vision of spirituality.  Imagine an object or symbolic idea of something you consider spiritual.  It could be a traditional symbol or a sunrise or a laughing child or a warm embrace.  It could be a rainbow or wildlife or a simple smile.  It could be a place that puts you in a spiritual frame of mind.  If you don't have a picture, think about what symbolises your personal spirituality and take a picture of it.  We are asking for your submission of photography or art with a short paragraph describing why it is special to you.  If possible, the submission should be an 8x10 or larger framed.  If not possible, submit it anyway.  We'll see what we can do.  The show will be displayed over the summer months.  Please submit to Michael Free by June 10th.

If you have weekly announcements you'd like to submit,  be sure to email them to the Office Manager (office_manager@greeleyuuc.org) by 10am on the Tuesday of the week you'd like them to be in the announcements!
