Sunday, October 18th- The Language of Letting Go- Ashley Johnson
There is so much that we hold on to in life. From memories to relationships to personal possessions. Sometimes, when we let go of the things we hold tightly, we find we become lighter, healthier, and more in line with our life's purpose. How can language help us in the process of letting go? What does the language of letting go sound like?

Do you provide support for a friend or loved one? Here is support for YOU! Many of us provide support for a friend or loved one or family member.  We may not think of ourselves as a “caregiver,” and yet this support can impact many facets of our lives.  In order to sustain this support, we need to seek out support for ourselves.  This is what Powerful Tools for Caregivers is all about.  These sessions begin October 8th at 9:30 – 11:30, running for 6 sessions, and facilitated by church members of Foothills Unitarian Church. Please contact Rev. Gretchen Haley gretchen@foothillsuu.org for more information or sign up here.

Connections Dinner- Join longtime members and staff for dinner and conversation as we explore ways to connect more deeply with ourselves, others, and something greater at Foothills Unitarian Universalist Church at 6:45pm on October 15th.

Transition Workshop-
With dedication and good cheer, UUCG members met
Saturday October 10th to prepare the building for our winter season.  Indoor and outdoor tasks were completed with cheerful intent.  Take a gander at the grounds:window wells were cleared, trash collected, the alley shrubbery cleared of weeds.  Our playground was beautified, our sign cleansed, and our roses fertilized.  Indoor areas were treated with equal mindfulness.  Lighting was tended, cobwebs removed, and pews and chair were polished, vacuumed, and tightened.  Artwork was cleaned and rearranged. Brasswork was polished and filters replaced.  A new stained glass graces our northern doorway.

Many thanks to participants:  Josette Schaffer, Kathy Wise, Judith Meyers, Marcia and Michael Free, Dennis Francen and Jim Shearer, Tim and Hollis Berendt, John Clark and Sally Petersen, and Bill and Shelley Gotchey. Thanks also to Dianne and Andy Culver who routinely provide building and ground maintenance.

Card sharks meeting has MOVED to October 22nd at 7pm!

Directory Changes- We are working on an updated directory. Please remember to check the draft directory on the table at the back of the Sanctuary to make sure that your information is correct.

Save the Date: Saturday, October 24th 2:00pm at UUCG
Showing of the film Merchants of Doubt sponsored by Interfaith Power and Light.
Inspired by the acclaimed book by Naomi Oreskes and Erik Conway, MERCHANTS OF DOUBT takes audiences on a satirically comedic, yet illuminating ride into the heart of conjuring American spin. Filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the curtain on a secretive group of highly charismatic, silver-tongued pundits-for-hire who present themselves in the media as scientific authorities- yet have the contrary aim of spreading maximum confusion about well studied public threats ranging toxic chemicals to pharmaceuticals to climate change.

Calling All Artists
A Task Tree is needed.  What is a Task Tree?  It is a tree with leaves that has tasks that need to be done in the church.  We have many jobs, some large and some small, that need to be done.  People can select the task that they would like to do to help out our church family. Who would like to design this tree?  We were thinking that the tree could be on one panel of the screen that surrounds the sound booth.  If you would like to make the tree, please contact Hollis.

From our Soul Matters collaborative, we offer these resources on our monthly theme of Letting Go. Click HERE for the resources!

Partnership Information If you have any questions or thoughts about the partnership with Foothill and Greeley, we have a liaison group comprised of Karen Harder, board member from Foothills, all three ministers and Hollis Berendt, immediate past president of UUCG.  Please contact Holllis with your comments, questions or thoughts.  All information will be brought to the liaison meetings.

Did you know that you can give the Church money and will not cost you a dime?
Just buy gift cards and help the church raise money for all of our ministry groups.  The average percentage most schools and churches receive is 5%, however, many vendors donate much more:

7%  Starbucks, Bed Bath and Beyond
8%:   Buffalo Wild Wings, and Noodles
9%:  Barnes and Noble, Panera Bread, Red Lobster, Olive Garden
10% Macy's, Chipotle,
11%: Chilis, On the Border
13% Bath and Body Works, 14% Old Navy, Lands End 16%
Bring Your Checkbook on Sunday.  Hollis will be ordering Sunday afternoon!

Remember that Sprouts, Safeway and King Soopers are available every Sunday. Soon King Soopers cards will only be sold in increments of $25, because you can refill them with any amount you choose using check, cash or credit card and the church will receive 5% of your purchase.  King Soopers is the only card that can be refilled at King Soopers customer service and the church receives 5% of the refill.

If you have weekly announcements you'd like to submit,  be sure to email them to the Office Manager (office_manager@greeleyuuc.org) by 10am on the Tuesday of the week you'd like them to be in the announcements!
