Sunday, October 30th- Addiction: Why Does It Matter To UU's? - Rev. Ruth Rinehart We live in an addictive culture. Whether or not we need freedom from alcohol and/or drugs, we walk every day in a wider world that begs escapism in addictive ways: work, money, sex, consumerism, materialism, entertainment. No shame. No guilt. Let's open our eyes and hearts. About Rev. Ruth Rinehart: She was ordained by Jefferson Unitarian Church and Boulder Valley UU Fellowship on October 9th. She preached here in January of 2015. She lives in Golden with her husband, David, on their suburban homestead, and is working to build a UU addictions ministry in the Denver area. RE: Preparation for the Multi-Gen Service Other News and Reminders Board Announcement: The board would like to make the congregation aware that Daniel Blum, our board president, has resigned from the board and from UUCG, effective immediately. We are sad about this loss. Please know that the board continues in our commitment to serving the church, and are in the process of determining steps forward. We look forward to moving into the future together. Time to Order Special Gift Cards, We will be ordering gift cards October 30. Please fill out an order form and give it to Erika or Rosemary with your check or cash on Sunday, October 30. Attached here is a new order form. You may use the old ones if you have if. Look at the percentage the church will receive with your purchase. It all adds up. Think of what you'd like to order for Holiday Gifts, gifts for teachers, easy meals for yourself. Safeway and Sprouts are available every Sunday. Don't forget to refill you King Soopers card. If you don't know how to do this, Rosemary has written instructions. It's easy.Click HERE for the order form! Tulip & Daffodil Bulbs for sale! We are selling tulip and daffodil bulbs. Plant now for beautiful spring color and flowers. Tulips in mixed colors or all red for 8 for $8. Daffodil - mixed variety 6 for $5. Easy to plant and then you'll have years of enjoyment. Raspberries are ready for all to pick! Everyone is invited to Tim and Hollis's house to pick raspberries at your convenience. No need to call, just come over and pick. The whole north side of our house is loaded with raspberries. Please help yourself. For your comfort, you might want wear a long sleeve shirt and pants to avoid small prickers, although it's not necessary. Please join us on November 4th at 6pm for an evening of healing and awareness for those affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. There will be speakers from SAVA (Sexual Assault Victims Advocates), A Woman's Place, and ASAP (Assault Survivor Advocacy Program) from UNC. There will be spoken word performances and other entertainment as well. Advocates will be available for anyone needing support. Lutheran Family Services is having a Coat Drive from October 24th-December 16th! Please donate your unwanted winter coats and help refugee families to stay warm!
