In March 2016 Sarah Gostenik went to Greece to help at refugee camps, through Carry the Future, bringing baby carriers to refugees. Several members of our UU church contributed towards her trip, either by donating funds or donating baby carriers. Sarah is going back to Greece on May 5th, this time through Allied Aid, and will be bringing toiletries, new underwear, and small toys. Beginning in April, there will be a box for donations in the foyer for donations or people can drop off donations at the Lutheran Family Services Refugee Programs office at 1502 9th Ave., Greeley, between 8-5 Mon-Fri.Sarah also has a Generosity campaign: https://www.generosity.com/volunteer-fundraising/return-trip-to-greece-refugee-camps If you've noticed our multi-language lawn signs and would like your own, go online to https:/www.facebook.com/welcomeyourneighbors. We're trusting that the refugee group using our building and UNC students walking past the church are among the people reassured by our signs. Social Event: UU Sunday Afternoon Brewery Fun Join us to meet and mingle with friends while checking out the local breweries in town. Beer, craft root beer and other non-alcoholic drinks are available for purchase. These will be family friendly events with board games/bean bag toss, snacks and root-beer floats for the kids.
WUULF summer camp needs teachers! Seeking teachers for our annual week long UU summer camp, the Western Unitarian Universalist Life Festival (WUULF). Enjoy fun, community and beautiful scenery in New Mexico. This year’s theme is “Find Your Fiesta,” with community ministers Nancy Bowen and Howell Lind. We have programs for the whole family. We need two or three more teachers for the youth programs that meet on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday during morning and afternoon hours. Teachers get their expenses covered by WUULF. To register, see the website and catalog at wuulf.org. Prospective teachers can contact Di Mapes at dianajoymapes@yahoo.com. Grocery Certificate Volunteers Needed! Due to a change in family life Rosemary Edmiston must relinquish her duties as a grocery certificate volunteer and Hollis Berendt wishes to spend more time with her family- thus it is time for a personnel change. We are hopeful that several will volunteer creating a team of volunteers with a coordinator so that the duties will not fall on one or two people all of the time. The coordinator or at least one volunteer should have access to a computer. The grocery certificate service provides added revenue for the church, and works closely with the UUCG Treasurer and Board. Volunteers need to contact Rosemary, Hollis, Erika Coan or Reverend Barry Bloom. How can I contact Rev. Barry Bloom? If you need to get into contact with Rev. Barry Bloom please email him at revbarrybloom@gmail.com or call him at 303-273-9908. Margaret Chiniquy, is our NEW office manager. New Office Hours : Mon-Thur 10am - 12pm Fridays 1pm - 3pm you have an announcement, or corrections you would like to see in our weekly announcements please email Margaret at office_manager@greeleyuuc.org by 10 am on the Monday you wish to see the announcement in!
