What's happening at the UUCG?
Oct. 17th - Oct. 23rd, 2017 Tuesday October 17th - Time sheets due Wednesday October 18th - Mah Jongg will be held on Wednesday this week instead of Thursday this week only. Thursday October 19th - Book Club @ Your Place Coffee, 2308 W 17th St, Greeley, CO 80634. The Book selection is The Ambassadors by Henry James. Thursday October 19th - November Unifax Submissions Due Sunday October 22 – “Work Of The Heart” Jessy Hennesy Dismantling racism and white supremacy, in our UU congregations and outside of them, is deeply spiritual work. In the words of Wade McCree, Jr, "If one fights relentlessly against injustice, want, hate and every form of exploitation, then one is a religious person. The love of God is not expressed by ritual or ceremony, but by loving." We'll join over 200 other congregations in the second UU White Supremacy Teach-In. RE: Preparation for the Multi -Gen Services for the Day of The Dead Monday October 23rd - Scott Clugston Memorial Service co-officiated by Rev. Sylvia Falconer and Rev. Barry Bloom will be held at 11am at The First Congregational Church, 2101 16th Street, Greeley, CO 80631. Tuesday October 24th- Colorado Energy Freedom Tour Concerned about clean air, water, jobs, and how to bridge the partisan divide? Here’s a positive solution - Bill Barron regional coordinator for 7 states will be traveling the state and in Greeley. When: 6:30pm - 8:00pm Where: Unitarian Universalist Church Please bring your friends, family and coworkers. Refreshments will be provided. Help Needed I am looking for volunteers to help clean up after the Colorado Energy Freedom Tour on Tuesday October 24. The event begins at 6:30pm and will end at8:00pm. Clean up involves moving benches back in place, cleaning up refreshments, and sweeping the carpet. Please let Hollis or Margaret know if you can help. Other News and Reminders Religious Education News We are so proud to have Miles Holcomb as our Religious Education Coordinator & Maggie Bryant as their assistant. Upcoming events in R.E.: Sunday Oct. 22: Sugar Skulls Preparation for the Day of the Dead (Multi Gen Service) Sunday Oct. 29: Multi Gen Service Day of the Dead. I would like to make you aware of the church's availability on Sundays, after our usual 10:00 AM service. Our renters will now be starting their services at 4:00 PM each Sunday. The church will have availability for meetings / classes / events typically from 11:30 or 12:00 pm for church activities until approximately 3:30 PM - at the latest. Of course, we will have inquiries from occasional renters, but consider making your meeting after our service. The congregants are already here. You have the space. You STILL need to check with Margaret on availability, but please consider using the space. You may want to consider bringing something to eat for lunch to help tide you over for your meeting or activity. Do keep in mind that the thirdSunday of the month, from 11:30 until usually 1:00 PM, you will find your Board of Trustees at work in the RE room. Available in October are some order forms which include a variety of retail, restaurant and hotel establishments that will donate a percentage back to our church. In addition to current committee members, anyone interested in being a Worship Associate for the upcoming year is encouraged to join us! Please Recycle Have you Noticed Our (2) Blue Recycling Bins in the Church? One is located by the North Entrance under our information station. The Other is located in the Barbara Bowles Room by the East entrance. Fresh Farm Eggs Available Kathy’s new Happy Chickens are laying nice farm fresh eggs. The cost is $3 a carton.
