Community Events this Week Choir News This Sunday, October 27th, there will be no rehearsal this and will start again November 3rd. Please join us for music and a potluck from Noon-3pm. Samhain Event October 26th from 3:30pm-5pm: Samhain is a Garlic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the begining of winter or the "darker half" or the year. Our Pagan group will host a gathering to mark the seasonal holiday. Everyone is welcome! Bring a snack to share. Dia Los Muertos/All Souls Reminder As we prepare for our Dia Los Muertos and All Souls observance next month please remember to send those names, information and pictures of those who have departed in the last 12 months so that they can be recognized in our slide show during the service. If possible, please get the information to Rev. Norris by October 27. Walk and Talks (Monday October 28th; 12-1 p.m.) All are welcome to join Rev. Norris on monthly theological walks the fourth Monday of every month at 12:00 p.m. The walks will be a combination of historical tour, Socratic dialogue, walking meditation, and community building. Each walk will be about an hour. The topic of the walk will take into account the route chosen. In October our theme is peace and we will be walking through Bittersweet Park. You are invited to meet at the mortal at noon or arrive at the church at 11:40 to join him before he leaves for the walk. Other News and Events Pathways to Meaning & Membership Class This class is designed to go over some of the basic history of Unitarian Universalism. It also helps you to better understand our congregation and see how you my deepen your involvement. It also is a great opportunity to meet others who are new to our church as well, but also have an interest in becoming more involved. While it is not required for membership, I highly recommend that you participate in this class as a first step to considering membership. The class is offered about once every six weeks or so and taught by our minister, Reverend Aaron Norris. The class takes about 90 minutes and are at noon on select Sundays. The next class date is November 3rd. If you're interested in attending, please RSVP to Rev. Aaron or follow this link. Social Justice in November Social Justice Ministry meetings are held the third Monday of the month at 11:00 am. The next meeting is November 18th. Food Drive Please bring non perishable foods to church to distribute to the Weld Food Bank. Most needed items are peanut butter, tuna fish, beans, pasta, rice, canned fruits and vegetables. Please do not donate expired cans or boxes as they will be thrown out. Script An order will be placed on November 10th for gift cards available through Scrip. A percentage of the cards is donated to our church with each purchase. There are order forms available on the bulletin board and additional possibilities are available at shopwithscrip.com.
