Our monthly theme for March is "Liberation." As it happens, March is also when we kick off our annual stewardship campaign, and so we will be continuing to talk about what we began with February's theme of "Desire"--what are our hearts' desires for this church? What might we need to liberate ourselves from in order to become that church we desire to be? What will it take to make our desires reality?
It doesn't just take money, but it does take money. We'll have conversations about that this month, but I also want us to think about what fulfilling our hearts' desires will take in terms of what we offer this congregation not only financially but intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. What gifts or talents do we bring? What patterns do we repeat that perhaps need to be released? What new ideas might we offer?
This year, Easter also falls in March, bringing with it questions about resurrection and rebirth. As we work on fulfilling our dreams as a community, these are questions to hold: what might we resurrect in our congregation or our wider community? What might be reborn in or through us this spring?
We'll explore these topics in worship, in conversations with each other as part of the "holy listening" work begun in late February under the guidance of Rev. Jeanelyse Doran Adams, and in our ministry teams. As always, you can also make an appointment to meet with me to talk one-on-one.
Spring is a time of growth--I invite you to join me in the ministry of growth in our beloved community!
