Our Approach One purpose of the church is to help us mature spiritually, and that is a lifelong process. So we offer religious exploration for all ages along with opportunities for the generations to learn together.
Children's Religious Education Program From September through May, we conduct children's religious education during the worship service - EVERY SUNDAY. Each week, kids will begin in the sanctuary with their families for the beginning of the service. Then the congregation sings them to class.
On the first, third and fifth Sundays, they have their own Children's Chapel using the monthly theme. This is led by our Religious Education Coordinator.
On the second and fourth Sundays, our wonderful religious education teachers lead the children through a curriculum. On these weeks, there are two classrooms: Primary and Intermediate age groups.
Religious education is important for kids because it helps them:
understand their own gifts, power, beliefs and areas for growth
develop their capacity for love and not hate, unleashing the power to end violence and bring peace
understand of the interconnected web of which we are a part and foster respect for our environment
understand how Unitarian Universalism can help them live life
If you have a gift of the head, heart or hands that you'd like to share with the kids - let us know. We can incorporate your gifts into the program, and you would only commit to doing something one time. There's nothing better than all the generations growing in faith together.
Adult Religious Exploration We know that adults don't come to church for a lecture, so most of our programs are built around what we call Circles. What are Circles? Groups of 4-10 committed participants who come together with a trained leader to nurture spiritual growth in community. All circles are grounded in the "circle practice" of deep listening and open-hearted reflection. "In our journey toward inner truth, we need a supportive community - a circle of trust - to guide us." -- Parker Palmer
